Do you DIY?

Growing up, I spent a lot of my time with my grandfather. He was a retired airline engineer and was literally always tinkering with something. We spent our days scouring junkyards for our next project and would spend hours upon hours in the garage bringing old cars back to life. As I grew older, it became quite evident that I 100% inherited this "tinkering" gene. I LOVE figuring things out and can often be found staring at something and thinking... maybe I could just...

Here are some of my favorite recent projects, with more to come!

Skelly Fire Pit

We went a wee bit overboard on our Halloween decorating and we had this fun coffin decoration, but we didn't know exactly what to put inside of it. Living in TX, we needed something that would stand up to the weather and also something that looked super cool! Enter... spray foam! So much spray foam! The end results were amazing and the lighting made it look like our Skelly Coffin Carriers were carrying a smolder pile of skulls. So much fun!

Fireplace Rebuild

This is one of my favorite projects! While I grossly underestimated how many times I would have to climb up and down the ladder during this project, the final results are *chef's kiss*! Our house had a "contractor basic" fireplace. It was fine, it worked, but is was BORING. After looking up more accent wall designs than I care to admit, one day I decided to just go for it and dive into the project.

Originally, I expected to just be able to "easily" remove the mantel (YouTube lied to me!) but the builders must have used every nail in their budget on this one wall. So what I thought would be a "quick makeover" was a full wall demo and rebuild (oops!). But as with every project, I learned a lot, cussed a little, made so so many trips to the hardware store, and in the end, made something beautiful!

Before (with Supervisor Reggie)                    This should come right off....                           Or not! So many Nails!

Seriously though!                                                       The Aftermath                                                Down to the Studs
